Kathryn Wiese, Director
Kathryn’s intention is to help facilitate individual and community transformation through There’s No Place Like OM Yoga Studio.
“You have the potential to experience your true magnificence, your true joy. Our classes and workshops are designed to empower, liberate and nurture a place of inner freedom so that you can live a full, rich life,” she says.
As a yoga instructor, she offers her desire to be of service through the gifts of yoga’s transformative teachings. And, as a thriving writer and marketing and non-profit consultant, Kathryn nurtures conscious intention for island businesses and organizations. It is a blend of these skills that she brings to There’s No Place Like Om.
Kathryn, who has taught yoga as well as additional health and wellness classes for five years, is a Registered Yoga Teacher who graduated from the Flowing With Grace teacher training program. She also is a registered Anusara Inspired instructor who has studied with John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga; with Tias Little (Ashtanga and Iyengar) of Santa Fe; as well as with Thomas Fortel (Iyengar) at Esalen in Big Sur.
Her classes are known for being upbeat, supportive of the individual and inspiring–with inspiration that comes from John Friend, who encourages students to make “every pose a prayer.”
Anusara Inspired Classes with Kathryn
Drawing upon Anusara teachings and principles, Kathryn’s classes combine her love of movement with heart-centered themes. Beginning/Level 1 students will learn the principles of alignment; enhance strength, stability and flexibility; and learn how to safely and strategically move within the yoga poses. “All Levels” and Level 2 students will enjoy more flow-oriented classes that build tapas (heat), remove toxins from the body and nurture inner radiance.

In 2004, a third Instructor’s Certificate was earned from Master Hui-Xian Chen of California, whose lineage includes the Turtle Longevity Qigong.
Currently, she teaches Meditation, Chi Kung & Tai Chi classes on the Big Island. Again, in 2006, she journeyed back to China for more advanced training in Tai Ji and Qigong with Grandmaster Chan Yong Fa and SiFu John Saw.

Instructor for Qigong/Chi Kung
Qigong is the art of cultivating “qi” (“chi” or life energy) by coordinating your breath and movements with intention. Also known as: “ THE” Chinese secret of “exchanging qi with the universe” to bring balance back into one’s entire physical, mental, emotional & spiritual system. Based on the ancient eastern traditions and practiced in a meditative setting, this highly effective health maintenance system provides more of a “bodywork” environment rather than purely an exercise one. Its movements are gentle, opening and explorative instead of goal oriented and aggressive…all ideal for anyone wanting to improve their overall health naturally or in conjunction with western therapies.
Louise Hutson
Yoga has been in Louise’s life for many years but when she was introduced to Ashtanga Yoga in 2000, it called to her in a deeper way. In 2004, she trained with Paul Dallagan in Yoga Thailand, later that same year she became pregnant and her yoga practice changed once again. After her son was born in 2005, her next step was to train specifically in prenatal yoga with Karen Prior, through Karen’s Mamaste Yoga program. Louise feels so fortunate to have the gift of yoga in her life: “Whether my practice is on the mat or off, yoga has taught me to open my heart and watch the wonder of life unfold in unimaginable ways,” Louise says.
